tragedy

"for tragedy and joy, equally annoy, they need what the other has done, neither being anything without the other one"

In a forwarded email recently it said to google your own name with the word 'needs' after it. I found a poem:

~ Joy Needs Tragedy ~

From the moment of conception
In your mothers womb
The only speed you have known
Is Earth's constant zoom

But almost anything constant
Becomes numb to the spine
And that is why there is no sensation
Of Earths speed which is incredibly high

If we could brake Earths speed
Like a braking car
Then for the first time in our lives
We could feel where we really are

And things on your kitchen table
Would slide to fall on the floor
Just as on your dashboard
Your braking car puts them on the floor

So equally well
I say unto thee
Joy occasionally requires tragedy
So that joy may be all the joy it needs to be
