time of your life

The time of my life right now is gearing up for CapeTown, discussions are already underway. But before that is Elim and Sandberg where this guy who looks like the evil twin of Willem Defoe wants us to help him out on his own little nature reserve. I am sure this will include, like De Hoop, more alien tree cutting which will hopefully whip me more into shape. The meat here is a little overwhelming, especially considering how they keep all the fat (eww) on it!

So I would ponder a guess that this will be my last Bredasdorp posting since we are only here for 4 more full days. It blows my mind to think of it. Our goodbye party for the community is on Tuesday night with a less formal tea for the group in the afternoon at Auntie Joey's house (Lara and Fredre's host). It's all so exciting and slightly nerve racking....

...but everything means nothing, if i ain't got you...

Happy Valentine's Day! I got a nice flower from someone special today... the lady handing them out infront of Superspar, that is our local superstore. And I basically skipped work today to veg and watch a movie with Kristin and Thandie. Not the best Valentine's I guess but it was nice enough, I bought myself a present or two to make up for it - a shirt and some underwear. We only have 19 days left here in Bredasdorp and then 10 in Cape Town. I am doing my best to get everyone presents and some for me too.
So what else is happening you say? I heard yesterday that a good friend has testicular cancer and I am concerned for him, though I hear he is in good spirits. I'm praying for you buddie, get better soon! And here, life goes on, I got some letters and enjoyed them. People are also starting to get mine back home so that is a good sign. Besides that, I miss you all and will see you sooner rather than later! All my love, Joy

happy people

Get this! We are going to Cape Town earlier than originally planned so I will be there for my birthday! Yay! And I will be staying with Deidre in her house for that time which should be really fun and interesting. This month is really going to fly by, I am going to Taebo and walking a lot and hanging out with all the girls is great, and I think we all realize that this time here is precious and some people I may never see again! That is still a while away, but anyone who knows me knows that I like to let my mind wander sometimes ;) I haven't talked to my family in a while due to the fact that hardly anyone's phone is working properly here and so I will have to find another payphone soon and get another calling card so to let them all know the good news. I'm gonna leave this well ventilated place now and head back out into the 30 degree weather, hehe. Apparently it's fainting season.
